Local NAACP Chapter Installs 2017 Officers

The NAACP Longview Chapter recently installed 207 officers. The ceremony took place at Bethel Baptist Church. In addition, the rites celebrated the oldest civil rights organization’s quintessential history. The organization leaders asked attendees to support NAACP. Reverend Lewis Thompson was the master of ceremony and Reverend H.Q Dickerson, the presiding elder of the Longview/Marshall CME churches keynoted the event. County Employees Recognized

After 30 years of working in the Smith County Auditor’s Office, Kathy McNamara has no plans to retire. “I’ve enjoyed it,” she said. Ms. McNamara was recognized by Smith County Auditor Ann Wilson during Commissioners Court Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Ms. McNamara began working in the payroll division in the Auditor’s Office in January 1987. In 1998, she began managing benefits for the more than 800 Smith County employees, as well as retirees. The University of Texas at Tyler is currently showing the 32nd Annual International Exhibition at the Meadows Gallery on campus, Michelle Taff, gallery coordinator, announced. Juror Ken Little selected 36 works out of nearly 700 entries to feature in the exhibition this year.
