Players representing 25 baseball teams from across Texas will compete in Longview for the Ranger Youth Baseball State Championship. The tournament will take place July 23 – 28, at Lear Park, 100 H.G. Mosley Pkwy.
Tournament opening ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, July 22, with festivities and dinner for participating teams. As part of the opening activities, local officials are offering participating teams a variety of baseball-related contests such as home run hitting and base running.

The tournament features three divisions: 14-Under, 14-Under Jr. (small leagues) and 13-Under. Eight teams will compete in the 14-Under, eight teams will be in the 13-Under divisions, and nine teams will battle for the 14-Under Jr. title.

The teams came from among 64 leagues, which played the inaugural season in the Ranger Youth Baseball organization for 14-Under baseball players. Charles Williams serves as the State Chairman and will be the tournament director. Sam Williams is the local chairman for Longview Boys Baseball, which is joining forces with the City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department to host the double-elimination event.

Tournament play gets under way Saturday morning in all three divisions. There will be four bracket games played both Saturday and Sunday.
