Julie Henry will serve as special assistant to the president for communications at The University of Texas at Tyler, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.
In this position, Henry will handle internal communications for the Office of the President, in consultation and collaboration with the UT Tyler Offices of Marketing and Communications and University Advancement, and serve as a university liaison to the external community.
“We are pleased to welcome Julie to UT Tyler. She brings a wealth of knowledge regarding communications, which will truly enhance our presence,” President Mabry said.
Henry also will respond to queries from UT Tyler students and parents, oversee special projects for the president and maintain the Office of the President’s web presence.
She holds a bachelor of business administration from UT Austin.
Henry previously served as the public information spet for Midway Independent School District and executive director for Keep Waco Beautiful, where she received two Governor’s Community Achievement awards.
She also mentored education students and presented programs to museum guests as she served at Baylor University’s Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center.
Her memberships include Tyler Women’s Forum and Leadership Tyler-Executive Series.
