The Tyler Public Library is holding a contest to name the Whooos a Reader owl, as illustrated on the right. As part of the Library’s remodeling project, Cherry and Jim Day created the sculpture which will be displayed on the right side of the Library’s main front entrance.
To participate in the contest, please visit the Library or go to www.TylerLibrary.com after Sept. 15 to submit your entry. Submissions must be received by Oct. 10. The top three names, as voted on by Library staff, will then be announced to the public. Final voting will take place from Oct. 20 to Nov. 21 with the winning name being announced during the unveiling in December.
City Librarian Mary Vernau said, “The Tyler Public Library is delighted with the adorable owl and very grateful to the Day’s for generously donating their artistic talents and time. We want to encourage the community to assist us in finding the perfect name for our Library Owl!”
The Tyler Public Library is located at 201 S. College Ave, Downtown Tyler.
